【New for 2026】BlueSniper 96L: A New Era of Light Shore Jigging
A new “L-class model” is joining the BlueSniper—YAMAGA Blanks’ shore jigging series built for targeting Blue Runner.
An L-class for Blue Runner—won’t it be underpowered? We can already hear that question.
But this isn’t “just a light model.” It’s the birth of a new weapon for dealing with clever, pressured fish in today’s real-world conditions.
In this article, we’ll walk you through everything—from the development concept to what makes it truly special.
The reason we started developing this L-class model came from a very simple, very real voice from the field.
✅“We want to enjoy the shore Blue Runner game more casually—on accessible, everyday spots.”
When people think “Blue Runner game from rocky shore” they often picture harsh rocky ledges and offshore rocks—stiff rods, big reels, big lures—casting all day for that one dream fish. A hardcore pursuit for true fishing fanatics (in the best possible way).
Not long ago, that “hardcore” image was the standard impression for many anglers.
These days, light shore jigging—targeting Blue Runner from more accessible places—has exploded in popularity. On weekends, the best offshore breakwaters can be packed shoulder-to-shoulder with anglers.
And when pressure climbs, you run into more situations where the fish are there… but simply won’t commit. That pushes you toward finesse: downsizing lures, thinning lines, and dialing in your presentation. But when a genuinely big fish shows up, a seabass rod or surf rod can struggle to take control—leading to break-offs or pulled hooks.
A delicate tip that handles smaller lures comfortably, paired with a powerful, unyielding butt that won’t fold when a big one shows up.
Bringing those opposing traits together—under the tough BlueSniper standard—became the core concept behind the development of the 96L.
Seeing “L-class” might make you imagine a thin, fragile rod. But this rod carries the BlueSniper name.
✅The biggest feature of this rod
Incredibly light and crisp in hand—backed by serious, confidence-inspiring backbone.
During casting and lure work, you’ll feel the light, responsive nature you’d expect from an L-class, along with a tip that loads smoothly and makes the rod easy to handle. But once a fish is hooked and the rod is fully under load, you’ll be surprised by how much torque, resilience, and power it delivers from the midsection into the butt.
Easy. Effortless. Not “strong because it’s stiff,” but strong because it keeps loading—wearing fish down with controlled pressure and lifting them when it counts.
Even as an L-class, it gives you the confidence to face Blue Runner around rock, structure, and tetrapods. This is a next-generation L-class model that carries the BlueSniper DNA—one we can truly stand behind.
✅Lure: Jig 15~60 g / Plug Max 42g
✅Line: MAX PE 2
■ Length: 2920mm ■ Closed length: 1496mm ■ Rod weight: 223g
■ Sections: 2pcs (spigot ferrule / inset joint) ■ Carbon: 99.8%
■ Guides: Fuji SiC-S stainless-frame K guide specification
■ Reel seat: DPS18 (Fuji)
■ Grip length: a. 485mm / b. 635mm
The length is a 9ft6in—pushing the balance between fishability and casting distance to the limit.
Around 40g metal jigs feel especially “right” on this rod, but if you load the butt properly, it will still drive and finish heavier weights with confidence.
The main line class is designed around PE #1.5–2.
What really stands out is how light it is—and how well balanced it feels.
You can keep casting and working lures all day with less fatigue—almost like the rod becomes an extension of your body.
This rod shows its true value in tough conditions and technical situations.
✅Micro-bait patterns
When the bait is tiny and fish won’t even look at larger jigs, you can work smaller jigs or plugs naturally and get bites without triggering suspicion.
✅Flat calm & clear water
Even when fish are extremely wary, the rod lets you fish with a softer, controlled jerk—keeping the lure’s “presence” from being too aggressive. And of course, for light shore jigging from breakwaters or beaches while waiting for a school to push through, it keeps you ready to convert the opportunity.
When you feel the fish are off—or when nobody around you is getting bit—this rod becomes the difference maker.
The existing fan-favorite “103ML-M” and the new “96L.” Many anglers will be unsure which one to choose.
The short answer: they have clearly different personalities.
✅BlueSniper 96L: Technical jig control & crisp handling
A technical model built with metal-jig control as the priority. The tip is a touch more responsive (firmer in a “high-rebound” sense) than the 103ML-M, making it ideal for fine action inputs. At the same time, the butt loads smoothly, helping reduce pulled hooks and lost fish.
✅BlueSniper 103ML-M: Plug work & long-range coverage
A distance-oriented model designed primarily for plugs. A tip that loads naturally and a powerful M-class butt are its key traits. It carries more overall power than the 96L, and truly shines when you need extra range or when you’re searching wide with plugs.
Recommended if you should choose “BlueSniper 96L”
💡You frequently fish metal jigs and “retrieve-type” jigs.
💡You want an effortless stroke and sharp lure control.
💡You prefer fighting fish on a loaded blank to reduce pulled hooks.
Recommended if you should choose “BlueSniper 103ML-M”
💡You fish with plugs (minnows and pencils) often.
💡You want maximum casting distance.
💡You want to keep more “forceful fight control” in play with an M-class backbone.
“96L for crisp control,” or “103ML-M for range and overall coverage.” Choose the best match for your target and your field.
This radar chart helps visualize traits that are difficult to quantify, but these five items do not represent everything about a rod.
Perception will vary depending on length and personal preference. Please use it as a general reference.
✅Pencil Ease of working diving pencils with good “water grip” and stable action
✅Popper Ease of creating splash and bubble trails with popper-style lures
✅Metal Jig Ease of executing quick, continuous jig actions
✅Tip Rebound Not simply “stiffness,” but the strength of tip rebound / responsiveness
✅Long-Range Casting All models cast well; this is overall distance potential including larger plugs
This chart compares the bend profiles of six models in the BlueSniper shore-pelagics series under a 3kg static load. In this series, we define “strength” not as simple stiffness, but as resilience and recovery power. For that reason, the bend image under a static load and the feel/power you experience while fishing will not always match exactly. Please keep that in mind.
■ 96L
The new 96L appears to bend deeply in the static load comparison, but it is not underpowered. It loads smoothly even on smaller Blue Runner—making fights stable and enjoyable—while during casting it “pushes” the lure out with the whole blank for a crisp, low-fatigue casting feel. Despite being a light class, it delivers clear toughness and recovery through the butt under load—worthy of the BlueSniper name.
■ 103ML-M
This model integrates the characteristics of the three previous models (103L, 96ML, and 100M), with improved casting performance. It loads naturally through the whole blank and excels at absorbing runs and head shakes for a controlled, forgiving fight.
■ 100M-MH
A highly versatile, high-balance model that consolidates the most-used M and MH classes into one rod. As shown by its natural curve under static load, it offers high-level adaptability—capable of working both jigs and plugs effectively.
■ 96H
In the static load comparison, the butt power may look close to the 100M-MH. This is because its short length concentrates a high-rebound “bend-and-return” character into a compact blank. Under real fight load, the recovery power is unmistakably H-class, delivering strong lifting capability.
■ PL109MH
Designed to load smoothly from tip through midsection while keeping a strong butt in reserve. This maintains pencil-lure control even in rough conditions. After hookup, you can control fish with the powerful butt and draw them in with recovery power that exceeds the typical MH-class frame.
■ PL106H
A tip that tracks load naturally helps dramatically reduce action errors with diving pencils. Under heavy fight pressure, it bends smoothly while maximizing recovery and butt resilience—pushing performance to the limit for reliably landing large pelagics.
* The static load comparison does not represent every characteristic of each rod. This image was created by gently hanging a weight with a reel mounted on the rod. It does not show instantaneous recovery, responsiveness, or lure-control feel. Please view it strictly as a reference for overall power and action tendencies.
A new L-class model has joined the BlueSniper series.
It’s built to let you enjoy the shore casting game for Blue Runner more easily—on more familiar, accessible fields.
If you’ve wanted to target Blue Runner but felt the barrier was too high, the 96L—with a feel closer to a seabass rod or surf rod—can become an ideal partner.
Inside its surprising lightness and crisp handling lives unmistakable BlueSniper DNA. We hope you’ll feel it on the water.
