【New for 2026】SeaWalk Vertical Contact
The new 2026 series, “SeaWalk Vertical Contact,” represents Yamaga Blanks’ uncompromising dedication to the “Bachicon” (Vertical Contact Ajing) game. This specialized series has been engineered to thoroughly pursue the essential performance needed for this technical style.
In this post, we will break down the series concept and provide detailed explanations for each model.

When developing Yamaga Blanks’ first dedicated Bachicon rods, our starting point was the “BlueCurrent” series.
By pouring the know-how cultivated in our light game “BlueCurrent” models into this project, we have created a Bachicon rod that truly embodies the Yamaga Blanks spirit—excelling in “Sensitivity,” “Control,” and “Responsiveness.”
Since Bachic on is a game that relies heavily on visual cues, we adopted a carbon solid tip. This allows anglers to instantly detect the smallest bites or even slight changes in line tension.
Think of it as enjoying a “Vertical Jighead Game.” The sensitivity and operability that enable such delicate presentations are the defining characteristics of this model.
✅Another Dimension of Sensitivity
In this series, we enhanced not only the visual sensitivity but also a second type of sensitivity: “Tactile Sensitivity.”
This tactile feedback clearly transmits electrifying bites directly to your hand, even late in a night game when concentration tends to fade. In severe conditions where a fraction of a second determines success or failure, this sensitivity and response—ensuring a solid hookset in the upper jaw—will be your greatest advantage.
Even if you look away, your body will react automatically. This is a rod that draws out “instinctive reactions.”
💡Important Notes on Handling Carbon Solid Tips
While carbon solid tips offer superior sensitivity, they require careful handling. Below are common causes of breakage and how to avoid them. Please read this before use.
■ Breakage due to Over-winding
Cause: Winding the rig all the way into the top guide, causing impact to the tip.
Solution: Retrieve with the rod held upright to easily see the rig’s position and reduce the risk of winding it in too far.
■ Dangling during Transit
Cause: Moving the boat with the sinker dangling. The bouncing motion causes the sinker to whip around, shocking the tip.
Solution: Always secure the sinker and store the rod safely in a holder when the boat is moving.
■ Line Tangles
Cause: Line wrapping around the tip during casting or action, causing concentrated stress.
Solution: Always check the tip for line tangles after moving spots or before dropping your line.
✅One More Point Before the Model Breakdown!
There is a specific design philosophy we absolutely want to convey!
That is the blank design built to “Bend-to-Catch.”
If we simply made the blank stiff and rigid just to increase sensitivity and operability, it would increase the burden on the angler and result in more lost fish due to hook offs (mouth tears).
Furthermore, this “bending” performance is essential for landing “unexpected monsters”—the thrill of offshore fishing—such as Giga or Tera-sized Horse Mackerel (Aji) or big rockfish.
Catching numbers is fun, but the satisfaction of landing a memorable trophy fish is indescribable!
Even against such “unexpected giants,” the “Bend-to-Catch” blank—perfected through the BlueCurrent series—assists the angler. By bending, the blank maximizes the performance of thin lines, and its restoring force (torque) applies constant pressure, allowing you to land the fish without giving up control.
This is a commitment Yamaga Blanks has refined since our founding, and it is the final piece that makes this a truly unique Vertical Contact rod.
The SeaWalk Vertical Contact series features a lineup of 4 models.

The 66 models serve as the base of the series, covering depths up to 50m, while the 70 models handle up to 100m.
While length preference plays a part, we recommend choosing based on the depth of your fishing grounds and the sinker weight used. In areas with strong currents or deep water, the 70 is an essential model.
In practical use, the 66 and 70 excel in different areas due to their length.
✅Strengths of the 66
Zero Tension / Shaking / Shallow area strategy with light rigs / Up to 50m depth
The 66 excels in fine action, operability, and handling. The response time to hookset is fast, allowing you to instantly hook even subtle nibbles.
The shorter length is the ultimate weapon for anglers who prefer a manual operational feel and want to sense as much underwater information as possible.
✅Strengths of the 70
Long Curve Fall / Deep Water Strategy / Electric Reel Compatible / Up to 100m depth
The 70 enables technical strategies that utilize its longer stroke.
While you can still use Zero Tension techniques, when the bite is slow, the 70 allows for a long curve fall (pendulum fall) to show the lure longer and trigger a bite.
When fishing from the bow (Miyoshi) of a large charter boat or in high waves, the 70 offers an advantage as its length helps stabilize the rig.
✅Spinning or Bait (Overhead) Model?
Next is the choice between Spinning and Baitcasting (Overhead).
This is a common dilemma for those choosing their first Bachicon rod.
First, the Spinning model.
The advantage of spinning is the fast fall speed. For day games where fish are often glued to the bottom, spinning offers better efficiency.
In night games, it is easier to cast (short casts) to search a wider area or target the light/shadow line, giving you more options when the bite is tough. Also, being generally more trouble-free than baitcasters makes it beginner-friendly.
Next, the Bait (Overhead) model. The strength here is the ability to use reels with line counters.
Using a counter makes depth tracking easy, allowing you to efficiently search for fish even on days when the target depth changes frequently.
It is also easier to detect bites during the fall. For those seeking a more direct feel, we recommend the Bait model!
When choosing a rod, try to imagine the depth and current of your local waters, or “how you want to fish.”
If you are considering a second rod, choosing a model with different characteristics from your current one will allow you to build a more strategic game.
Of course, all models come standard with the delicacy to handle small Aji and the power to land 50cm class giants. You don’t need to worry about a lack of power, so please choose with confidence.
A refined world of Vertical Contact awaits, one that can only be experienced with the “SeaWalk Vertical Contact.” We hope you will bring out its full potential on the water.
