【New for 2025】What the new Blue Sniper will be like

We would like to introduce the boat casting series “Blue Sniper” which will be renewed in spring 2025.

Since the previous model, the Blue Sniper, was released in 2015, it has been used by many anglers, and we have received many reports of catching large yellowtail and other memorable fish, including big tuna.

Ten years have passed since then. The environment surrounding the offshore casting game has changed dramatically.

Bluefin tuna is catching large specimens weighing over 100kg, and the distribution of yellowfin tuna and amberjack has moved northward due to warmer water temperatures. Even in areas where it was previously difficult to target due to limited seasons and small populations, fishing boat captains and anglers have been exploring the area, and strategies for hitting the best spots and seasonal patterns have been found.

Lures have also evolved significantly, with the same top water plugs now available in a variety of materials and shapes, making it possible to choose a lure that suits the situation and location.

Furthermore, using minnows and sinking plugs to target fish that do not react to top water has become a fully established method, and now not only bluefish and tuna, but even large groupers are in the picture as targets. This has greatly expanded the possibilities of today’s boat casting games.

Now in 2025, the new Blue Sniper will be released with a lineup of 3 types and 7 models to suit different situations and lures in order to respond to the diverse modern casting scene.

FLX-Mode(FLEX)

“FLX-Mode” is a series of three models developed with the concept of bending, flexibility, and followability. The blanks bend smoothly with small input of force, allowing you to cast comfortably all day long.

In addition, the highly responsive tip and belly section prevent action errors even when using lures with low pulling resistance, such as diving pencils, allowing you to approach fish without feeling uncomfortable or putting unnecessary pressure on them.

Furthermore, its flexibility allows it to fight without causing the fish to thrash around unnecessarily, reducing the burden on the angler while allowing them to continue to apply pressure reliably.

This series is truly full of Yamaga Blanks’ unique style, embodying the meaning and benefits of “bending” as a casting rod.

BlueSniper 83/2FLX

■ Lure: 14~45g
■ PE: Max 2

It combines high casting performance with delicate lure operability, and its true value is shown when using small plugs with light line to shoot it into the fish that is feeding on surface or when the target feeding on micro bait fish only.

The design is flexible yet strong during the fight, which prevents the fish from thrashing around unnecessarily and allows for a surely landing.

It is especially recommended for Spanish mackerel and bonito which is feeding on surface, whose mouths are often cut off by sudden dives over the side of the boat.

【Comparison with the previous model BS81/2】

The previous 81/2 was designed to be easy to handle but the 83/2FLX is designed to be easy to cast long distances to hook fish, and also has the potential to catch larger fish with small lures and light line, so the overall rod power has been increased.

BlueSniper 83/6FLX

■ Lure: 45~140g
■ PE: Max 6

When casting, it has the flexibility to bend easily with small input of force, but its quick convergence and strong recovery force mean that you can easily ensure a stable casting distance.

The flexible tip and belly facilitate the natural action of the diving pencil and reduce action errors in situations where it is difficult to pull the lure, such as in narrow waves or when the tide and wind are against the current.

When fighting, it has a good charge and the butt section can handle the sudden runs that are typical of yellowtail, so this model is recommended even for those who are not confident in their physical strength.

【Comparison with the previous models】

Comparison with 82/6: The 83/6FLX has an extended rear grip to improve casting distance and operability. In terms of fighting performance, the fulcrum of bending is closer to the hand, making for a milder, less stressful feel.

Comparison with 81/6Blacky:  The 81/6Blackywas a heavyweight model that emphasized strength and fighting performance, while the 83/6 is characterized by its lure operability that is suitable for games that cast and search and then its lightness that allows you to do them without any stress.

BlueSniper 81/8FLX

■ Lure: 60~180g
■ PE: Max 8

This high-power model offers excellent maneuverability for large lures and is ideal for fishing large bait patterns such as dolphin fish and needlefish, as well as for fishing in difficult areas such as rapids, shallow areas, and rough roots.

Even under high drag tension, by fighting with the rod held firmly upright, the rod will exhibit its strong tenacity centered on bending, giving it the ability to control the fish and make it difficult for it to be overwhelmed.

It can also be used for bluefin tuna and large yellowfin tuna in the summer, where PE8 class is essential.

【Comparison with the previous model BS81/8】

The 81/8FLX offers a lightness feeling that allows you to keep casting it all day long. The butt power has also been improved, making it suitable for the king fish game that you cannot give the initiative to the target even in a short time.

RGD-Mode(RIGID)

The “Rigid” is a model designed with concepts of stiffness, strength and response.

In offshore casting games, it is suitable for everything from quick operation of top water plugs to underwater approaches using any sinking lure that is subject to tidal resistance and pressure.

The blank has huge force of recovery and strong tension, allowing for precise lure control and a sharp casting feel.

The quick and direct operability prevents your casting game from becoming monotonous, and the excellent sensitivity delivers underwater information to your fingertips, making this a strategic rod for seizing those rare opportunities.

BlueSniper 74/3RGD

■ Lure: 30~60g
■ PE: PE 2~3

It provides quick action when used with top water plugs, and in underwater it can be used with minnows for blue runner, vibrations, spin tails, and even 50-60g jig heads + plastic worms to break through any situation and develop a game.

With its ability of long-distance casting and lightness feel, easy-to-handle grip length, it is also a perfect match for jerking games using sinking minnows or long-lip minnows with strong water resistance.

It also performs well in the jerking minnow game of Spanish mackerel which is getting popular recently. By using either #2 or #3 line depending on the target, this rod can be used for a variety of targets and methods.

【Comparison with the previous models】

With a completely different concept from the 72/3 and 79/3, it achieves new tones and specifications.

BlueSniper 76/4RGD

■ Lure: 40~90g
■ PE: MAX PE 4

The belly and butt sections have a strong resilience in contrast to the flexible tip, combining a sharp casting feel, quick and direct control, and reassuring fighting performance.

It is ideal for underwater games targeting blue runners using top water plugs, large minnows with strong water resistance, large groupers such as striped grouper, grouper, and brown spotted grouper using heavy jig head rigs and large plastic worms, and medium-sized trevally.

With a completely different concept from the 72/3 and 79/3, it achieves new tones and specifications.

BlueSniper 79/5RGD

■ Lure: 45~110g
■ PE: PE 4~5

The entire rod has high recovery force, so when casting it requires small force of input with compact motion, and can be used from overhead to underhand, regardless of the size and position of the boat.

Furthermore, the direct operation feel allows for quick action regardless of the type of lure, such as a diving pencil, popper, or sinking plug, depending on the angler’s intentions.

It delivers high performance in games involving yellowfin tuna and king fish thanks to its high recovery force on blanks to let lure popping at your will in tough situations with no wind and completely calm seas, and sharp diving action input that can be adjusted quickly and slowly.

With a completely different concept from the 75/4, it achieves new tones and specifications.

TRQ-Mode(Torqueful)

The “TRQ” series is designed to target large fish and uses blanks that combine tenacity with high recovery force.

By holding the rod with high angle, the angler is in the most comfortable fighting position, and the blank creates a reassuring bend curve.

The entire blank firmly supports the angler at key points, reducing the physical burden of angler even during long periods of fights and allowing the angler to land their target surely.

It was developed for anglers who are ready to take on the challenge of head-on battle to catch memorial target surely.

BlueSniper 81/10TRQ

■ Lure: 40~150g
■ PE: MAX PE 10

This high-power model is compatible with PE10 and is designed to take on large yellowfin tuna and bluefin tuna head-on. It has stable casting performance that allows you to cast a wide range of lures accurately with compact motions when shooting lures fish feeding on the surface, and it is also light and easy to use, allowing you to cast and manipulate pencils and small mouthed poppers with small input easily when you have to search targets.

In terms of fighting performance, the more you keep the rod with high angle, it bends deeper and smoother then, bringing out the full of butt power.

The physical burden even during long fights will be reduced even if it’s the high drag settings while constantly applying pressure so you won’t miss the key moment to close the distance between you and fish.

【Comparison with the previous models】

The previous 81/10 Blacky has a resilient butt section that is designed for fighting and bending easily. But the 81/10 TRQ has a sharper casting feel and the increased butt power and overall rod strength make it easier to apply load with reel drag and has greatly improved lifting power.
